Totally Games Launches Year Long Initiative to Assist Children in Foster Care

“Over the years, Totally Games has supported several worthy causes,” said Lawrence Holland, Totally Games’ Creative Director, “but I felt that both as a business owner and as an individual, I wanted us to do more.  However, being a small business we are limited, so when it was suggested that we focus our efforts on one issue to build awareness and raise funds – I got excited.  Every quarter over the next year, Totally Games will select one charity to highlight and to support in its efforts to improve the lives of children in foster care.  Totally Games will donate 100% of its online sales commissions from sales generated from its site as well as work to organize other special fundraisers.  Totally Games will also be asking the gaming community to donate to these charities directly.”

“The issue for this year -- Improving Life for Children in Foster Care, is driven by the recent experiences of a co-worker here at Totally Games who was a foster parent and later an adoptive parent of two great kids,” Holland continued.  “We have all taken a personal interest in and supported him and his family and in doing so learned what life is like for the 90,000 children currently living in foster care in California .  Over the next year we expect to help educate the gaming public by telling the stories of those children and young adults who have lived in foster care and those still in the system looking for a permanent home.”

The first charity we have chosen to highlight is The Ellen Seligman Fund for The Center for the Vulnerable Child ( CVC ) at Children’s Hospital and Research Center at Oakland .  The Ellen Fund was recently created in memory of Ellen Seligman, one of the first members of the Center for the Vulnerable Child’s staff and one of its strongest advocates.  Ellen and the entire CVC staff have worked tirelessly for over a decade to improve the lives of children, often making a way to help them and their families thrive despite enormous odds.  The CVC is an interdisciplinary team dedicated to promoting the health and social welfare of vulnerable or medically fragile children and their families.
