In between or alongside more traditional game projects, TG continues to demonstrate its love of innovation in a pair of advergaming projects that it developed for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Online:

Based on one of the most endearing characters from Toy Story and designed to promote and directly link to the new Buzz Lightyear attraction in Tomorrowland at Disneyland, this free downloadable PC multiplayer online game was a first-of-its-kind project. It connects online gamers and in park attraction riders at Disneyland in real time so that they can blast off to “infinity and beyond” together. Both sets of players can cooperate and affect the results of their follow teammates when they play the game, whether at home or at Disneyland! Check it out at www.disneyland.com/buzz and help Buzz Lightyear in an intergalactic battle against the Evil Emperor Zurg.
“This project was a blast to do; it had some very nifty game design and technology elements because of the way the multiplayer experience worked. My hat is off to the Disney folks for imagining this new kind of interactive experience where park riders and gamers at home could affect each other’s gameplay. The development effort truly benefited from our many years of doing multiplayer space combat as far back as XvT. The end result was an incredibly revolutionary game experience.”

This project was created as an online introduction to Walt Disney World's newest Animal Kingdom attraction featuring a high-speed train ride through the Himalayan Mountains. The result was a free downloadable game that can be seen at http://www.disneyeverest.com/. Cleverly utilizing movie footage from the ride and integrating photographs from around the attraction, the player embarks on an adventure in pursuit of the elusive yeti, a.k.a. the abominable snowman.
“When the Yeti roared, we listened, because it’s not every day that you get to make a game about the ‘real’ abominable snowman and scaling Mt. Everest. Once again it was a pleasure to work with the imaginative minds at Disney. For us it was an opportunity to make our first adventure game, one that incorporated elements of a new and impressive Disney attraction.”
