Throughout its history TG has demonstrated a masterful ability to capture the essence of a high profile entertainment property and turn it into a compelling game, while staying true to the style and character of the original material. Star Trek: Bridge Commander, developed for Activision, continued this legacy by delivering a powerful gaming experience based on the famed TV series, Star Trek.
Set in the Star Trek Next Generation universe this space simulation puts players in command of their own Starfleet starship and crew while investigating the mysterious explosion of a star in a corner of the galaxy known as the Maelstrom. Star Trek: Bridge Commander is a tactical combat game that offers two different flavors of gameplay: storyline mode and quick battle mode. The Storyline mode provides a set of episodic encounters with a variety of combat missions and foes. Quick battle mode allows customizing missions for never-ending playing — from Starfleet defensive tactics, to piloting a shuttle craft in a cooperative assault, to a Cardassian outpost.
“For Star Trek: Bridge Commander we created an entirely different kind of space combat than we had for the X-Wing series because we needed to focus on starship combat rather than starfighter combat. A starship battle in Star Trek is best compared to a fight between two heavyweight boxers standing toe to toe slugging it out. With this image in mind we designed the game's combat system. By using this approach I think we created the most authentic feeling Star Trek game to date.”
