Game Systems Programmer
  Totally Games is currently accepting resumes from talented seasoned videogame
professionals for a Game Systems Programmer position on a high profile PSP console project.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a world-class project and a key member of
a team of respected veteran developers. This highly desirable career development position
also offers this programmer an opportunity to contribute to important and diverse
aspects of the project.
 
  Responsibilities
 
  • Design and implementation of system game features and modules that control weapons & damage, AI, physics, interface etc.)
  • Evaluate possible middleware solutions for certain game systems (sound, physics, video player etc.)
  • Create and use proprietary game development tools developed in house
  • Work with project leader, programmers, artists, and gameplay developers to design & develop overall game concepts
  • Develop systems that adhere to Sony's PSP certification (TRC) requirements
  • Write clean, optimized code that is well documented and follows company coding guidelines
  • Use tools like Visual C++, Metroworks Codewarrior, or SN Systems ProDG
  • Assist developers on other game systems as needed to meet project milestones
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 3+ yrs video game industry programming experience in C / C++ is MANDATORY
  • B.S. in Computer Science or a distinguished college course list in relevant fields
  • Action genre (1st or 3rd Person Shooter) programming experience, with expertise in one area of game development (i.e. AI, gameplay, physics, low level systems, sound, etc.)
  • Has shipped or is about to ship at least one AAA title, preferably as a Game Systems Programmer
  • Ability to write clean, well documented code with performance in mind
  • PS2 and/or Xbox console experience a plus. PSP experience highly desirable
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Versatile individual willing to assist in whatever game system work is required to complete the project
  • Able to focus and work without micro-management
  • Willingness and ability to operate within a true team-oriented atmosphere
  • Clear understanding and appreciation of schedules and milestones
  • Desire to establish and build a career within a thriving developer environment
  • A passion for creating and playing great games!
  • Must be legally authorized or able to immediately obtain legal authorization to work in the US
Due to the immediate nature of this position and current government employment-visa
sponsorship restrictions, we are unable to consider foreign candidates UNLESS they have
an advanced degree from a US accredited University/College OR are able to work in the US
on a contract basis as an independent consultant.
