Level Designer
  Totally Games is currently accepting job inquiries and resumes from talented seasoned
videogame professionals for a full time Level Designer position on a high profile and
publisher funded PSP console project. Totally Games has been in the games industry
for over 20 years, working with major publishers such as LucasArts, Activision, and Disney.
We’re seeking creative, dedicated, visionary contributors to add to our talented
group of developers.
 
  Responsibilities
 
  • Design, provide detailed requirements for, lay out, script and tune game levels for 3rd person action game following the lead of the game design document
  • Contribute to overall game design, refining and expanding upon game concepts found in game design document
  • Work with the other level designers and programming staff to design, refine and test all level design and building pipeline tools
  • Collaborate with programming staff on the functional design of game systems needed for general gameplay and level-specific needs
  • Write dialog for character interactions during game's story telling sequences
  • Collaborate with art staff on art and animation needs for each level that the designer is responsible for
  • Assist in the ongoing testing and QA process for the product during its entire development and particularly before milestone submission
  • Contribute to the production of the game manual & documentation and the generation of assets for marketing the product
  • Keep the rest of the team informed and current on relevant PSP/handheld-games in the marketplace
Qualifications & Requirements
  • A passion for creating and playing great, totally involving games
  • Has shipped or is about to ship at least one AAA title, preferably as a Level Designer
  • 2 -3 years Game Industry console experience, 3rd Person Action or Action RPG genre experience required
  • 1-2 years of Level Design experience including designing layouts, placing objects, scripting behavior, tuning and balancing
  • PSP experience highly desirable
  • Experience in using scripting languages: Basic, AWK, Shell Scripting, Batch Files, SQL, PERL, Python, TCL (tool command language) or programming languages like C
  • Experience using 3D Studio Max a plus
  • Ability to learn and use custom game building tools efficiently
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Able to focus and work without micro-management
  • Proficient in using word processing, spreadsheet and database software
  • Willingness and ability to operate within a true team-oriented atmosphere
  • Clear understanding and appreciation of schedules and milestones
  • Desire to establish and build a career within a thriving developer environment
  • Must be legally authorized or able to immediately obtain legal authorization to work in the US
Due to the immediate nature of this position and current government employment-visa
sponsorship restrictions, we are unable to consider foreign candidates UNLESS they have
an advanced degree from a US accredited University/College OR are able to work in the US
on a contract basis as an independent consultant.
